Acting Through Song: Connecting Musicality & Vocality with Dramatic Intention
This workshop has a focus on acting through song but also working more specifically on how to best honour the music and the vocality while achieving dramatic connection.
In this workshop, Josh will cover how to understand your voice type and the vocal techniques required to develop a rounded musical theatre style voice whilst honouring both the musiciality, context and meaning of your song.
JOSH CLARK
Josh is a well known singer, pianist and conductor from Auckland.
In recent years, he has worked on a number of major professional NZ theatrical productions, including the New Zealand premiere of Pasek and Paul’s Edges, Billy Elliot, Pleasuredome, Saturday Night Fever, City of 100 Lovers, CATS NZ National Tour, ONCE the Musical, and We Will Rock You, as well as producing and headlining an Elton John show, Im Still Standing - An Elton John Experience.
Josh works regularly as a pianist and singer in many musical genres; from choral and operatic through to Contemporary, Rock n Roll and Jazz. Currently, he is the resident pianist of the Candlelight Music Series at St Matthews in the City.
As a teacher, Josh is the Director of Choirs at Saint Kentigern College, and is in frequent demand as a singing teacher and vocal coach, having returned from London in 2020 where he worked as a singing teacher and music director at the Emil Dale Academy.
In 2020 Josh was the Musical Director for the JTFNZ Pilot Production of Frozen JR.
