Whilst we have a love of singing often young performers hear the melody or the vibe but do not really understand the meaning. This workshop looks first at selecting repertoire and then at enhancing your performance through using actors tools to increase understanding and therefore truth.
EMMA BISHOP
Emma is an award-winning theatre practitioner having directed, musical directed, produced, production managed, and designed numerous shows in Aotearoa.
Emma is a trained performing arts teacher with 17 years of classroom experience in Secondary Education. In 2017 she left fulltime teaching to set up her own performing arts company StageAntics which sees her teaching performing arts in various locations around Auckland, as well as producing the Junior Theatre Festival NZ which is now in its sixth year.
Other highlights include directing the 2022 Summer Pilot Programmein dunedin and musical directing in Wellington, directing the 2021 Sum-mer Pilot Workshop Series in Christchurch and Wellington; Directing Into the Woods (Harlequin Musical Theatre), teaching in America at JTF Atlanta; directing the 2017 & 2018 National Schools Tour for ‘The Ugly Shakespeare Company’, creating/directing the sell-out cabaret eXpect the UneXpected (AMT), musical directing Westend and Broadway (Harlequin Musical Theatre) and Directing, Musical Directing or Vocal Coaching numerous Youth and Junior Productions in and around Auckland.
Emma is the current President of Drama NZ, the National Subject Association for Drama in Education, the Zone One Rep for Musical Theatre NZ, as well as being the past New Zealand Co-ordinator for The AMICI’s Trust Junior Theatre NZ.
